David Chambers

CSWA, QMHP

Before entering the counseling world, David served in the military as an Air Force firefighter from 1991-1995 and is a Desert Storm veteran, followed by 12 years in the Air National Guard and Army National Guard. After his military service he spent over two decades in law enforcement. His military assignments took him overseas, exposing him to diverse cultures. Having walked in the shoes of law enforcement and military, he is well-versed in the traumas endured by first responders the impact of trauma on families and individuals.

Prior to joining Life Works, David worked as a Veteran's Mental Health Therapist for Jefferson County. David earned an associate's degree in Criminal Justice, a bachelor's degree from George Fox University, and a master's degree in Social Work from Arizona State University. David is attuned to recognizing trauma symptoms that may develop into PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. He aspires to enable his clients to be their ‘best selves’ and tailors his therapeutic work to individual needs, utilizing CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and IFS (Internal Family Systems). In addition to being a State- certified Crisis Worker, David also has led anger management training classes.

David is a Father of three, one of whom is serving overseas in the Air Force. He enjoys working with families and couples. When not working with clients and colleagues, David enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and working out. He also enjoys volunteering with Veterans and attends Veteran’s groups that help with mindfulness and mental health.
