Who We Are

Life Works of Central Oregon was founded by a group of mental health clinicians in 1991 with the aim of providing comprehensive quality outpatient mental health services, including assessment, therapy, medication management and consultation. Shortly after it was established, Life Works became the first non-governmental agency in Central Oregon to be certified by the State of Oregon, Office of Mental Health. All clinicians working with our clients meet Oregon Administrative Rules standards as Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs). Over the past 28 years, the clinic has undergone periodic routine reviews and quality assurance inspections by the State of Oregon, and has maintained its certification continuously.

Life Works is committed to providing prompt access to mental health services to patients regardless of race, ethnic background, gender, or religious preference. The facility is fully compliant with ADA rules regarding accessibility for people with disabilities. We are contracted with a number of leading insurance companies as preferred providers, or participating providers. Additionally, as a State-certified mental health agency in Oregon, Life Works is authorized to provide services to members of the Oregon Health Plan in partnership with Deschutes County Behavioral Health.

The clinical staff at Life Works offers a multi-disciplinary team approach with a variety of specialties, and are committed to using evidence-based practices.

Our clinicians are able to work as a team to provide integrated assessment and evaluation services, medication evaluation and management, and individual, family, and group therapy in a single facility. At present, our clinical team is comprised of two psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, and four counselors.

Life Works clinicians are selected and retained based on two criteria; 1) competence within their respective disciplines, and 2) commitment to a collaborative approach of treatment. The commitment to collaboration involves both a willingness to work with other clinicians within the clinic, and to reach out and coordinate with other care providers; physicians, social support agencies, and the local community.
